When The rainbow Dies

There was nothing there, not a soul.
He was alone, in the dark that was his life.
He still remembered when there was light and colour, when his heart was still beating.
He had abandoned his house when he was 17. He had chosen to leave, not the other way around.
His parents where that would be called ‘good Catholics’ maybe to good and very close minded.
That day was the end of a part of his life, a life full of lies and deceiving.

Flashback

- Mom, dad. I have something to tell you. – he said looking at them sited in the living room.
- Sure son. Go head. – his father said with a smile.
- I don’t want you to get you mad.
The smiles in his parents faces faded and were substituted by concerned looks.
- What is it Eli? - his mother asked.
- I just want to tell you that … - he took a deep breath – I’m gay.
- WHAT?! – his father asked in a jump.
His face was turning red with anger.
- You can’t know. – his mother said more peacefully – you’re too young to know that. You’re just confused. – she said with a worried smile.
- No mom dad. I know. I’ve always known. – he said trying to keep himself calm.
- What have I done wrong?! – she asked looking up like she was asking God.
- I will not have an homosexual son! – his father screamed.
- So I won’t be your son! Forget I’ve ever existed! – Eli screamed back.
He went up to his room grabbed a bag and ran out of the house.

End of flashback

That day had broke his heart, but he started to work and soon found a way to forget it.
They had been his best friend in the last couple of years.
Most people dreaded them, but for him they were his hero, his only escape.
Until that day when he almost overdosed.
He wanted to overdose. He was sick of living, but somehow an ambulance that took him to the hospital.
While he was there he saw an angel, a beautiful angel that was trying to save him.
On that day he understood that maybe there was a reason to live, but that reason seemed to be out of reach.

Flashback

He opened his eyes and by his side was his angel, his personal miracle.
- Hello! – the young man said with a smile that could start a war.
He opened his mouth to try to talk but the other one put his hand over his mouth.
- Shh! You can’t talk. I’m Alan. You’re Eli. Right?
He nodded with his head.
- You have beautiful eyes Eli. – Alan said with the same gorgeous smile.
Then out of nowhere he got up and gave him a light kiss on the lips then pulled back a bit embarrassed.
- Sorry… - Alan said looking at his feet red like a lobster - I didn’t mean to offend you. You’re probably not even gay. Are you?
- I am. – Eli said in a week voice.
Alan smiled with true happiness.
- I have to go Eli. I’ll come tomorrow. I think you will be released in two days. – he said giving him a kiss in the forehead.

End of flashback

Since that day he had found a new reason to live, to keep believing, to start loving.
But that had change a few days ago.
It was all a nightmare again.
He was broken, again. But this time Alan wouldn’t come to fix him, to love him.

Yesterday tree fireman died in a fire on the city centre. When the old building collapsed the tree men were still inside trying to save a woman and a child that were locked inside.
The tree brave young man will be honoured in a memorial this Sunday.

It was all a bright nightmare.
He was sick of the tears. He couldn’t take the pain any longer.
He only had one friend left, a lost friend.
He would end what he had started in that long lost day.
He knew what was coming next.
Right before he closed his eyes he saw him, his angel, circled in light with his big truthful smile and he smiled too
